Jewish Care Travels the World
Jewish Care travels the world
Jewish Care’s purple threaded bracelet has been sent around the world, visiting 21 countries on four continents, in just three months.
The bracelet was launched in September as part of the charity’s Remember Jewish Care campaign which aims to highlight the importance of Jewish Care’s services.
In a bid to involve the public in the campaign, Jewish Care asked people to tweet photos of themselves wearing the purple thread to Twitter and Facebook. Over 150 photos were sent in showing the purple thread visiting exotic locations such as Bermuda, The Seychelles and Argentina, as well as places closer to home like the Olympics, France and Spain.
In total the purple thread has travelled 108,533 miles which is equivalent to travelling almost halfway to the moon or four and half times around the world.
The bracelet symbolises the thread of Jewish Care that runs through our community, connecting all of us who give our support, and all of us who receive that support.
Daniel Carmel-Brown, Jewish Care’s Director of Fundraising and Marketing said: “To help engage with the community and to remind others about us, we wanted to create a fun and engaging social media campaign around the Jewish Care purple thread. The feedback and response we’ve had from the community has been fantastic.”
