Remembrance Day 2012
Jewish Care residents joined the Remembrance Day events at the Edgware Cenotaph on Sunday 11th November.
Residents from Vi & John Rubens House, the Princess Alexandra Home, Clore Manor, Otto Schiff care home, Rela Goldhill, Jack Gardner, Rosetrees, Lady Sarah Cohen House and Rubens House joined forces with the Royal British Legion and AJEX (Association of Jewish ex-servicemen and women) for the 2011 Remembrance Day event.
Wearing her late husband’s medals, Emma Phillips (86), a resident of Jewish Care’s Clore Manor said: “Remembrance Day means a great deal to me, it is an opportunity for all of us to remember all the lives that have been lost in the name of democracy.”
Afterwards, Jewish Care residents returned to the Michael Sobell Community Centre in Golders Green to enjoy further Remembrance Day events sponsored by the Hebrew Order of David. They enjoyed the music of the Shabbaton choir led by Rabbi Lionel Rosenfeld.
