Mitzvah Day

Mitzvah Day is one day a year when thousands of people give back to the Jewish community by taking part in projects to support charities. This year it falls on Sunday 20th November. At Jewish Care, there will be a range of activities at our resources that you can get involved with, spending time with care home residents and brightening up their day.

The Mitzvah Day mission is quite simply "to reduce hardship and poverty, to help our environment and to bring a little joy". The concept is based on the Jewish values of tikkun olam (repairing the world), tzedek (righteousness) and gemilut chassadim (acts of loving kindness).

How to get involved?

There is a list of projects on the Mitzvah Day website that you can get involved in. There are a number of Jewish Care resources who will be organising activities, from sing-a-long at Lady Sarah Cohen, to a quiz at Selig Court.

All visits to the homes MUST be coordinated centrally through the official Mitzvah Day office. Please email nelly@mitzvahday.org.uk for all enquiries.
