Hyman Fine House – Brighton

Offering personal, nursing, dementia and respite care

Hyman Fine House was originally built by the Jewish Community of Brighton so that the area would have its own Jewish Home. Later becoming part of Jewish Care we pride ourselves on maintaining strong community links. Everyone who lives in the home is welcome to attend the local community day centre. We have regular visits from the local Rabbis and enjoy celebrating all the Jewish Festivals.

Volunteers from the local community also run the home’s synagogue services on Shabbat and other volunteers regularly visit for a chat, game of cards or trip to the shops.

We pride ourselves in encouraging the people who live here to take an active role in what goes on in the home through our regular forums. We also hold regular meeting for friends and relatives.

Social programme and activities

As well as trips to local theatres, cinemas and places of interest, the home organises many activities including flower arranging, quizzes, bingo and arts and crafts.

A highlight for the home was a ‘world tour’, when residents enjoyed a host of different experiences including eating sushi, pizza-making and Bollywood-style dancing.

Volunteers from the local community take an active role within the home, offering residents a manicure or something from the trolley shop.

Surrounding area
The seafront and Brighton pier are very close to the home. There is also a wide range of shops and cafés in The Lanes nearby.
