When is the helpline open?
The helpline is open from 8.30am- 5.30pm, Monday to Thursday. It is also open on Friday from 8.30am to 5p.m. in the summer and 8.30am. to 2p.m during the winter. The helpline is closed on Public Holidays and Jewish Festivals.
Who will answer my call?
Your call will be answered directly by one of our team of trained advisers. The adviser taking your call will give you their name and ask how they can help you.

Will my call be recorded and is the call confidential?
Jewish Care Direct is a confidential, information, advice and support line. Please be aware that in the interest of being able to provide the highest standards of care to all our callers your call may be monitored for training purposes. Any information you provide may be shared with other professional health and social care agencies if this will help us to provide you with the best possible outcome to your enquiry. If you have any concerns about that information being shared please make your concerns known to the Jewish Care Direct Adviser.
Looking for a friend or relative?
If you are contacting Jewish Care looking for details of a friend or relative please be aware that we do our best to look after the confidential information that people entrust us with, this means that we will not give out a person’s details unless they have agreed that we can do this. If you are contacting us looking for someone please be aware that we will need to ask you for your name and contact information, and then we will do our best to pass this on either to the person directly, or the relevant Jewish Care department. The person will then have the opportunity to contact you if they wish to do so.

All Jewish adults aged 18 and older, their families and carers and anyone else who has a question related to health and social care issues. If you are under 18 and are concerned about someone over 18, we can help you too.

Yes you can. Often, a referral is from a GP, consultant, hospital, local authority social worker, carer, synagogue, family member, friend or neighbour.

You will need to obtain the consent of this person before we can take action arising from your call. If the person has dementia then in certain circumstances we may be able to proceed without consent being obtained.

If your call is to obtain a referral to the services of Jewish Care, then depending on the nature of the referral some of the following information may be helpful relating to yourself or the person on who’s behalf you are calling:
- address
- date of birth
- name and address of G.P.
- place of birth (particularly if your are a Holocaust survivor)
- recent medical history
