1600% increase in job applications to Jewish Care

Jewish Care has received a record number of applications for positions at our care homes this year. Quarterly recruitment drives and ads in local newspapers normally attract between 100 and 200 responses.

This year, advertisements were placed in national newspapers like the Metro and Evening Standard as well, resulting in 1908 enquiries to the recruitment line and a further 467 emailed enquiries - an almost 1600% increase.

2000 application packs were sent out and 140 people were asked to attend an assessment day for the 43 vacancies for Residential Care Workers, Residential Support Workers and Team Leaders.

Care home managers were also involved in the short-listing process, and applicants who passed the assessment day were interviewed for positions at Jewish Care’s Lady Sarah Cohen House, The Princess Alexandra Home, 7b Mapesbury Road and Vi & John Rubens House.

A number of positions have now been filled, with many second interviews still taking place. Diane Blausten, Jewish Care’s Director of HR was overwhelmed by the response and commented: “We have been inundated with enquiries and have received some very high calibre applications. We hope that our care homes will benefit from the experience and skills that the applicants have to offer.”
