George Osborne MPThe Lord Mayor of the City of London, Nick Anstee, was delighted to host the breakfast, and welcome guests to his residence. He highlighted the vital work Jewish Care carries out, saying: “The work Jewish Care does for the Jewish community is exemplary, and it is a fantastic cause, one I have supported for years.”
George Osborne attended the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting at Davos last week, and updated the audience on what was discussed; primarily the global imbalances the world economy is facing and G20 country budget deficits. Mr Osborne also said that he felt Israel will face challenges in the coming years, and that he is a true friend of the State of Israel.
When speaking of his admiration for Jewish Care, he said: “Jewish Care is a shining example of everything that is good about Great Britain. The contribution Jewish Care makes to the Jewish community and wider society is fantastic.”
Stephen Zimmerman, Chairman of Jewish Care, thanked Mr Osborne for his thought -provoking address and called on him to meet the challenges faced by many organisations in the health and social care arena, saying: “The next government will need to address the bureaucracy that affects organisations in the third sector and design regulation that is fit for purpose. We at Jewish Care frequently face challenges that affect our funding. It is crucial that we are able to look after the older members of our community, and those in need without any funding difficulties from local and national government.”
