Next Generation Boxing Evening

Over £35,000 was raised for Jewish Care at the Next Generation Gentleman’s evening on Thursday 1st May at the Café Royal.

The event featured prize casino, stand-up comedy with Bob Mills and three bouts of professional boxing, organised by promoter Robert Waterman.

The evening was enjoyed by an audience of more than 300 people including Israeli boxing star Roman Greenberg and former British champion Michael Sprott. Funds were boosted by a raffle and auction with prizes such as a training session with Roman Greenberg and lunch for two people at the Playboy Mansion in Beverley Hills.

Earlier, guests were addressed by Solle Frankel and Alan Gold, residents of Jewish Care’s Rubens House care home, which was refurbished thanks to funds raised at last year’s event.

Committee chairman Richard Goldstein described the evening as an “overwhelming success – we have created a regular fixture in many people’s diaries.” He said that funds raised would benefit Jewish Care’s KC Shasha Centre for Talking News and Books (which produces literature in an audio-format for people who are visually impaired) and the Kadimah Centre for Wellbeing (for people with mental health needs).

Mr Goldstein paid tribute to the event sponsors Business Environment and committee members including boxing promoter Robert Waterman, Nick Astaire, Ben Avigdori, James Baruch, Spencer Gelding, Stephen Gevertz, Tony Jacobs, Myles Jacobson, Dan Kattan, Marc Lester, Antony Levinson, Darren Rolfe, James Scott and Oliver Zissman.
