Otto Schiff care home is part of The Maurice and Vivienne Wohl Campus in Golders Green. It’s a specialist, purpose-built home for people living with dementia.

The care home is a special place, where there is a strong sense of warmth and community. This combines with the comfort and security of having staff with specialist expertise and experience. Carers are trained in all aspects of looking after people living with dementia. Relatives and friends can also get the support they need through the dedicated carer support team.

Otto Schiff has 54 bedrooms spread over three floors, divided into five households. Each household has six or 12 bedrooms, and its own spacious open-plan kitchen, living and dining area.

Living in a household means the care home feels more ‘homely’ to the people who live there. Residents get to live in a close-knit community, while remaining part of the wider care home and campus communities too. This works well for the residents, who take pleasure in various social activities available to them. Many residents use the campus amenities including the café, shop and the enriching events held at the Michael Sobell Jewish Community Centre.

The care home offers enriching activities and food. There is a daily programme of stimulating and varied activities, and a full menu of nutritious kosher meals. See the Activities and Food sections for more information.

A tasty, nutritious and kosher meal for every breakfast, lunch and supper.

Otto Schiff is supervised by the Kosher London Beth Din (KLBD). The care home uses fully kosher certified food products and suppliers.

We place traditional Jewish values at the heart of all we do at Jewish Care. That’s why we ensure that every breakfast, lunch and supper served in our care homes is tasty, nutritious and kosher (or kosher-style). All our services use kosher ingredients and recipes, and our staff are trained in preparing food in a kosher way. Please contact us to find out more about this.

Meals at Otto Schiff

The team of skilled chefs plan and prepare a varied menu of meals each week. They meet with residents and relatives to ensure that they cater to every palette.

Mealtimes are social times, where residents enjoy tasty kosher meals together. Traditional foods help residents remember and mark key moments in the Jewish calendar; challah on Shabbat, doughnuts for Chanukah, honey cake for Rosh Hashanah and hamantaschen for Purim. These are all part of what makes Jewish life so important in our homes.

Some residents may have difficulty swallowing their food (dysphagia). Kun Mor and George Kiss can provide a wide variety of enjoyable and nutritious pureed kosher meals, in partnership with the Hospital Kosher Meals Service (HKMS).

Make your visit a day to remember with some great things to do and see in the area.

Otto Schiff is in Golders Green, the heart of North London Jewish community. There are lots of things to do in the local area to help make your stay or visit even more memorable:
