Raymond House – Southend-on-Sea

Offering personal, dementia and respite care

Raymond House is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac in Southend-on-Sea, offering stunning views over the Thames Estuary and the famous Southend Pier.

The home is relatively small, offering a homely, warm atmosphere. One of Jewish Care’s longest established homes, Raymond House is very much part of the Southend Jewish community. Members of the local community are actively involved in the home, helping residents to enjoy regular Shabbat and festival services, as well as other occasions. In addition, local schools and youth groups visit the residents with great energy and enthusiasm.

Social programme and activities

Residents can take part in a whole range of activities including card games, flower arranging, bingo, music and discussion groups. Many residents also take advantage of the Southend Jewish community centre and often spend a day a week there.

The Southend & District Aid society has a constant stream of fundraising events such as bric-à-brac sales, supper quizzes and summer fêtes, some of which are held at the home.

Often together with members of the Southend Jewish Community Centre, residents are taken by bus on outings to local places of interest, including Hadleigh Castle, the village of Tiptree, museums and theatres.

Surrounding area

Raymond House is conveniently situated in the centre of Southend and residents are encouraged to walk to the local shops or to take the cliff lift down to Southend’s lively sea front.
