Rubens House – Finchley

Located in the heart of Finchley, Rubens House is known for its homely and hospitable atmosphere. Some of the residents enjoy sitting in the home’s bright and airy foyer, greeting visitors with a friendly welcome.
On the ground floor, there are several communal lounges that host the majority of the home’s busy social programme. There is also a quiet lounge and separate dining room for people with dementia, and the home has its own synagogue and hairdressers.
One of the attractive features of this vibrant home is that it is surrounded by a beautiful garden, with a sheltered, decked area where residents often sit.
Rubens House is also very proud that a member of their dedicated care staff won a national award for her work.
Social programme and activities
A regular programme of activities includes card games, bingo, exercise classes, music groups, quizzes, arts and crafts. Residents can watch their favourite films on the big screen in the home’s cinema-cum-dining room. There is continuous social interaction thanks to the home’s many volunteers. Residents enjoy buying something from the trolley shop or participating in impromptu sing-along sessions.
The home’s volunteers include support from the local synagogues. The excellent Friends of Rubens House fundraising committee organises enjoyable events, including Klezmer concerts.
Surrounding area
Victoria Park is just a few minutes away as are the local shops of North Finchley. The Arts Depot, which puts on exhibitions, plays, concerts and musicals, is also close by.
