The Princess Alexandra Home – Stanmore

Offering personal, nursing and respite care

Set in more than 16 acres of stunning, landscaped grounds, The Princess Alexandra Home attracts plenty of wildlife, including foxes, rabbits, geese and the occasional stray cow! The home is a substantial period building with an elegant, wood-panelled reception area, as well as other original features.

The local community is actively involved in the home. Groups of all ages visit, including the University of the Third Age (U3A), a teenage group and a mother and toddler club. In addition, children from local schools and synagogue members often come to celebrate the Jewish festivals with the residents.

Social programme and activities

Residents are encouraged to make use of the grounds by eating al fresco in the picnic area by the lake, going for a walk or admiring the views from the terrace. The home has even organised a helicopter ride for residents.

The home’s library offers an extensive collection of new and antique books. It is also the venue for the many concerts, group activities and performances in the home.

A diverse range of activities take place here including a stroke club, computer training, a variety of quizzes, story-telling and art-based activities. The enthusiastic volunteer team help around the home, taking on roles such as running the shop or assisting with the sensory equipment.

Surrounding area
Bushey High Street is only a few minutes away as is Stanmore’s town centre.
