The large building maintains some of its original features, with a beautiful wood panelled reception and a library that boasts a large collection of new and antique books.
Sitting in 16.5 acres of beautiful gardens, residents can enjoy far reaching views over London from the covered terrace. A lake with a fountain is occupied by a ‘community’ of koi karp, and the grounds attract wildlife including foxes, rabbits and a couple of visiting Canadian geese.
A picnic area by the lake enables residents and visitors to make the most of these wonderful surroundings.
The home has been owned and managed by Jewish Care since 2002. It follows Kashrut and celebrates all Jewish festivals as well as Kidush and Shabat services, yet it also acknowledges the faith of its few non-Jewish residents and has a multi-faith prayer room.
“We are very fortunate to have a very active team of volunteers who greatly enhance the social life of the residents. The beautiful library room enables us to put on concerts and performances, and we have a very popular social club run by young volunteers," says the home manager.
