This vibrant and busy day centre is located in a modern synagogue complex in Edgware. Staff and volunteers know everyone by name and there is a noticably warm, friendly atmosphere as soon as you walk in.

The Edgware & Harrow Jewish Day Centre is open to anyone living in the surrounding areas of Edgware, Stanmore, Harrow, Hatch End, Pinner, Elstree, Borehamwood and Bushey. It has been designed to meet the needs of older people in the community and is culturally sensitive to all Jewish people whatever their level of observance.

Members can sit downstairs, drink tea and catch up on news while others take part in a keep fit class, art and handicrafts classes and current affairs discussions in the sports hall, before joining their friend for lunch and entertainement.

Formerly in partnership with the League of Jewish Women, the centre is now being used as a model for other day centres based at synagogues around London. Some 30 volunteers regularly help in the running of the centre.

Activities on offer include:

keep fit
bridge & kalooki
hairdresser manicures & hand massage
music appreciation
arts and crafts
current affairs discussion groups
reminiscence
daily entertainment after lunch
