People who use the Burr Centre have a range of physical and sensory disabilities and may have had, or currently have Parkinson’s stroke, multiple sclerosis, heart conditions or cancer, or suffer from a sensory illness. Adults of all ages are welcome.
The aim of the centre is to stimulate them, get them involved in activities and boost confidence which can easily be lost during or following illness. Trips also enable people to get out and about with the security of trained staff and volunteers.
The Centre is equipped with a computer suite that has five workstations and offers very popular computer training classes two days a week.
Tea or coffee and toast is offered to members when they arrive in the morning.
A full kosher lunch menu of 15 main courses is offered as part of a three-course meal. Salads, jacket potatoes and sandwiches are also available. The choice of food helps members start to make decisions on their own again.
The centre is open 9.30am - 3.30pm Monday to Friday
The Burr Centre is now located at the Redbridge JCC.
Transport to and from the centre can be provided depending on availability and the individual's circumstances.
If you would like to become a member, or know someone who might be interested in joining the Burr Centre, contact our helpline, JC Direct on 020 8922 2222.
