Thank you from the 10,000 lives we touch every week

Each week Jewish Care touches the lives of 10,000 people like Jerry, Sylvia and Gus. We're there for everyone in the community that needs us across London and the South East of England. We can only continue to help them thanks to kind and generous people in our community.

Jerry is 93 and an active member of our connect@ service.

My wife lived with dementia for many years. After she passed away I was absolutely determined to carry on living an independent life, but everybody needs a helping hand every now and then. I find it at the connect@ centre – it makes me want to get up in the mornings. I can’t wait to see my friends. We chat, play games, celebrate festivals together and I feel completely at home.”

Sylvia is a care home resident at Jewish Care.

I’ve lived at Rubens house for a year now. I was living alone after my husband passed away, but then I fell ill, and I just couldn’t look after myself anymore. I was a bit anxious about coming here, but my family were all very supportive and that helped me make my mind up. After just half an hour I felt so completely at home. It really is the best decision I’ve ever made.”

Gus is 95 and a Meals on Wheels client.

I’ll never get over the pain of losing my wife. I miss her every single day. I can’t cook, as she did all the cooking, so I rely completely on Meals on Wheels. I’ve always loved my food, and they’re almost as good as my wife’s home cooking. The volunteer who brings them always has time to come in for a chat too. It’s not just food, it’s company. I really look forward to it.

Please continue to be there for more people like Jerry, Slyvia and Gus by making a gift today.
