Jewish Care's KC Shasha Centre for Talking News and Books provides talking news, books and magazines for anyone who is 'print impaired'.
That is, anyone who is unable to read or hold a book, whether due to a visual impairment or other health condition, such as Multiple Sclerosis or Parkinson's Disease.
KC Shasha Talking News and Books is a membership service provided via post on USB memory stick. It is available to adults living in the UK.
Our audio library contains over 1600 books with a Jewish theme or Jewish author. From lighthearted fiction to historical non-fiction and autobiographies, there is something for readers of all tastes.
We produce a weekly abridged audio version of the Jewish Chronicle, for listeners to keep up to date with what's going on in the Jewish world.
Every month we produce the audio magazine Jewish Extra, a collection of articles of Jewish interest from newspapers, online sources and magazines around the world.

For the last 25 years, thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers, Jewish Care have managed a communal wide Tay Sachs screening programme. In the last few years we have worked in partnership with Jnetics, a specialist charity dedicated to improving the prevention, diagnosis and management of Jewish genetic disorders. As Jnetics has evolved it became obvious to us that the natural home for the Tay Sachs screening programme was with them and we are delighted that they have agreed to take this on. This change will ensure increased awareness and screening and a co-ordinated approach across screening for severe genetic disorders in the community.
