Duty Volunteer, Community Support & Social Work Team

Commitment Wednesdays and/or Fridays, 10am – 4.30pm, ongoing Location Amelie House - Golders Green

Purpose of Role: To be the public face/voice of Jewish Care; to provide information and advice; to act as a link between the Jewish Care Direct Helpline and the Community Support & Social Work Team; to empower people to take as much control as they feel able to while knowing that Jewish Care are there to assist.

Duties/Responsibilities:

·         To Support the Duty Senior as required, e.g., by responding to referrals, taking calls from the public and professionals

·         To explore with clients what assistance they may need at that time

·         To record case notes outlining what assistance is being requested and confirming what action has been agreed

·         To contribute to the development of the Duty Service and the resources it uses

Skills & Qualities Required:

·         A background in Customer Services or Social Care is desirable but not essential

·         Good level of English both written and verbal

·         Good telephone manner

·         Good IT skills and a willingness to learn Dynamics (electronic system of recording client details)

·         Ability to work independently but also as part of a wider team

·         To be a good listener, patient and empathetic
