Tea Party HostsCommitment 2-3 times a year on a Tuesday afternoon in Golders Green, Hampstead Garden Suburb and surrounding areas. Location Golders Green, Hampstead Garden Suburb and surrounding areas.
Do you enjoy afternoon tea? Would you like to help tackle loneliness and social isolation among older people? If so, Jewish Care is looking for volunteers to hold tea parties in their home 2-3 times a year on a Tuesday afternoon in Golders Green, Hampstead Garden Suburb and surrounding areas.
Jewish Care organises regular afternoon tea parties for isolated older people who find it difficult to get out and about by themselves. Each guest is collected from their home by a volunteer driver and taken to a volunteer host’s home where they meet with a small group for afternoon tea, a chat and companionship.
All we ask of our volunteer hosts is a friendly and sociable nature and the facility to seat 8-10 older guests comfortably in an easily accessible home that has a downstairs toilet. Your warmth and hospitality will be rewarded with the chance to meet people from your local area, give back to the community and form bonds with older people who are so grateful for the chance to leave their homes and meet friendly new people. Our tea party hosts often say that they get just as much enjoyment from the gatherings as their guests do.
With such a small time commitment, this volunteering opportunity is perfect for those who lead busy lives.
