06 Jul 2018

 Over 100 golfers took out their golf bags for the 48th Annual RAGS (Redbridge Aid Golf Society) golf tournament at Abridge Golf and Country Club raising £115,000 for community services in the Redbridge area. A cheque for £95,000 was presented to Jewish Care’s (now former) Chief Executive, Simon Morris, to support their work in the local area, and the Community Security Trust were presented with £10,000 and £5,000 was donated to Sidney Gold RAGS Scholars.

 The overall winner of the day was Greg Lishak and the winning team was James Thopson, Alex Horn, ex-Chelsea footballer, Wayne Bridge and Jon Skerry. The Chair of the Golf Committee, Andrew Klein, said;

 “This was another great year for RAGS, it is always a highlight in the calendar and a good opportunity to enjoy playing golf whilst raising money for vital services, including much needed funds for Jewish Care. Redbridge Sports Committee and RAGS were delighted to have raised a total of £115,000 to support a range of services for the local Jewish community”.

Daniel Carmel Brown, Chief Executive commented after the event, “The RAGS committee is one of Jewish Care’s oldest fundraising committees playing a pivotal role in local fundraising efforts. We are grateful to the committee, players and sponsors all of whom made this another extremely successful event. Jewish Care provide a wealth of services in the area from social work and family carers services, dementia day care, a large residential care home and of course the Redbridge Jewish Community Centre. This range of services wouldn’t be possible without the ongoing support of the community”.
