Supportive Communities Tea Party with Moriah School and Chief Rabbi27 Feb 2019
Yesterday (Tuesday 26th February) the Chief Rabbi popped in for a Shabbat UK themed tea at Carol and Barry’s house in Pinner. The couple are volunteer tea party hosts for Jewish Care and open their home for up to 12 older local people to get together and meet one and other. The oldest guest, 96 year old Miri who moved to London from Manchester six years ago said the events were “lovely”. She and other guests are collected from her home to the tea by a team of volunteer drivers. “It’s a lovely chance to meet other people, we feel so welcome”, commented Gwen another of the guests.
Today’s guests were given musical entertainment by pupils from Moriah School. Pupils from years 5 & 6 sang a number of songs before being chatting to guests and being rewarded for their efforts with some cake!
Before leaving the event the Chief Rabbi commented;
“This is an incredible community. Here in this home I can see the very best of our community; kindness, hospitality and wonderful children”.
