2.6 challenges by fundraisers for Jewish Homes Emergency Appeal27 Apr 2020
Members of the community from 3 to 96 took on 2.6 challenges on the day that the Virgin Money London Marathon should have taken place, in order to raise funds for Jewish Care, The Fed and Nightingale Hammerson, as part of the Jewish Homes Emergency Appeal.
Ruth Brook, 96, has taken on a 5-day challenge to walk 2km each day. Families the Woolf and Falk families took on obstacle courses with 3 years old Samuel Kossoff taking on the playing of 26 musical instruments in a row. There were 26 exercise challenges from the Marks family, 260 burpees with a 10k vest by Raphi Bloom the Director of Fundraising at The Fed, 26 2.6 minutes of planks by Natasha Zack and 26 t-shirt Lisa Martin and 26 skirt challenges taken on to help support those working hard every day for the older members of our community.
Sunday 26 April was the first day of Ruth’s walk yesterday, she says “I’m walking 10k over 5 days to save lives for Jewish Care because I want to contribute to this great charity.”
“I will be walking 2km every day for the next 5 days which over a week will achieves the 2.6 challenge and more. I am 96 and at my stage in life it’s still important to make a contribution. I know how desperately urgent it is for the care staff in residential homes to have Personal Protective Equipment to prevent the spread of Covid 19. Your donation will go a long way to making a huge difference. Thank you.”
Adam Overlander-Kaye, Jewish Care’s Director of Fundraising and Community Engagement, took on his own challenge with his family by completing a 2.6k run/bike and 26 minutes of TikTok, said, “What was amazing about the 2.6 challenge is the way that the whole community did all sorts of things; some fun and some incredibly tough, to challenge themselves to raise money for the care homes and the magnificent work carers are doing to look after the most vulnerable members of our community.”
