David and Samuel celebrate with Jewish Care13 May 2021
David Mindel and Samuel Burke met ten years ago and immediately connected over their shared love of Jewish life, passion for travel and closeness to their families. David and CNN Presenter Samuel, were married on Lag B’Omer and asked their virtual wedding guests, their family and friends, to donate to Celebrate with Jewish Care for their celebration. On the live stream ceremony with loved ones from six continents, David mentioned Jewish Care during the ceremony, thanking everyone who had donated.
David says, “We've always been so moved by the work Jewish Care does because their work touches so many different parts of our community. With our wedding taking place when the world has seen so much adversity, we decided that it was a moment for foregoing a wedding registry and asking our friends and family to come together to support a cause that’s uniting people. We’ve been so honoured so many have joined in so far to support the broad and diverse work of Jewish Care. We had a magical day and are delighted funds are going to the great cause at Jewish Care."
"We do work with community groups in the UK and felt this would be so much more helpful and meaningful than a gift registry," adds Samuel, "particularly in the pandemic where we have seen firsthand how people are struggling so much economically. "
Jewish Care's Director of Fundraising & Community Engagement, Adam Overlander-Kaye, "We wish David and Samuel a big Mazeltov on their wedding and much happiness for the future. We so appreciate their generosity in including Jewish Care in their simcha. 'Celebrating with Jewish Care' really is a wonderful way to mark a simcha or celebration and will help us support older people in our community."
