King Solomon High School pupils half marathon

25 Jul 2014

Three sporty year eight students from King Solomon High School in Redbridge decided to set themselves a tough challenge by doing a sponsored half marathon walk around Fairlop Waters as part of their Yoni Jesner Leadership Award.

nullThe walk took Chloe Santaub, Charlotte Moore and Samantha Manoff four hours to complete and they raised £200 for their local Jewish Care home, Vi & John Ruben’s House in Redbridge. The girls chose to donate the money to the local home so that the residents could spend it on something that would be of benefit to them and they visited the home to personally present the cheque to residents.

Daniel Carmel-Brown, Director of Fundraising and Marketing, presented the girls with certificates. He said,

“I want to congratulate you for your initiative and achievement and thank you for choosing to raise funds for one of Jewish Care’s much needed resources for the older generation. It is also a pleasure to welcome young people into our care homes and see the benefit of intergenerational visits for both students and residents.”
