Kosher Deli customers warm to Jewish Care12 Mar 2016
Kosher Deli customers have been showing their generosity by adding £2.50 to their shopping at Kosher Deli’s five stores to subsidise a hot kosher meal for older people who visit Jewish Care’s community centres across London and the South East.
Over the past three months shop staff have scanned the bar code 1600 times for customers, raising a total of £4000 for the charity.
Jana Klein, Assistant Executive Director said,
“Kosher Deli is not just a business, we are a community and we support the community. We are so proud to have been able to support Jewish Care and are delighted that our customers took such an interest in raising a large sum to provide hot kosher lunches for people attending Jewish Care’s community centres.”
Each week 1000 older people visit Jewish Care’s community centres and in addition to enjoying hot kosher meals at the centres, there is a wide range of meaningful stimulating activities to participate in and the opportunity to meet other members of the local community, helping to relieve loneliness and isolation.
Jewish Care’s Chief Executive, Simon Morris, said
“We are so grateful to Kosher Deli for the opportunity they have given us to raise money for Jewish Care. The generosity from their customers has meant that we are now able to subsidise 1600 more hot kosher lunches across our community centres. Many of those who come to the centres for these meals live alone, and this is their only hot meal of the day, so this money will really make a big difference”.
