Bar and Bat Mitzvah 10k walkers05 May 2016
Thank you to our first ever group of Bar and Bat Mitzvah 10k walkers!
Mazel Tov and thank you to the 18 young people who completed our Bar and Bat Mitzvah 10k sponsored walk at the weekend helping to raise vital funds for Jewish Care.
This was the first event of its kind for Jewish Care, and an opportunity for those who have had or are about to have a bar or bat mitzvah to show their commitment to the community in this special year.
The walkers set off at Jewish Care’s Maurice and Vivienne Wohl Campus in Golders Green. Their first stop was Clore Manor Care Home in Hendon where they took a break from the sun, had refreshments while meeting with residents at the home. After a short break they walked the rest of the route, which had been designed to take in as much green space as possible to the newly built Betty and Asher Loftus Centre where everyone enjoyed a celebration tea with family and residents of the three homes at the Centre.
The day was a resounding success. Not only did the walkers help raise thousands of pounds for Jewish Care but they also left with an understanding of the work of the organisation and the important role they, as members of the community, can play in supporting communal organisations in the future.
Following the feedback from the walkers, their families and residents Jewish Care are planning to make this an annual event. If you’re interested in finding out more about next year’s Bnei Mitzvah Walk or similar future events, please get in touch with CKossoff@jcare.org
