Golf bags and glad RAGS for Redbridge local community20 Jun 2016
Last Thursday over 100 golfers took out their golf bags for the 46th Annual RAGS (Redbridge Aid Golf Society) golf tournament at Abridge Golf and Country Club raising £135,000 for community services in the Redbridge area.
The annual tournament organised by both the RAGS committee and the Redbridge Sports and Entertainment Fundraising committee raises much needed funds for local Jewish charities. A cheque for £120,000 was presented to Chief Executive, Simon Morris to support our work in the local area, and the CST were presented with £10,000 and £5,000 was donated to Sidney Gold RAGS Scholars.
The overall winner of the day was Richard Allen who received the Monty and Jack Shafron Trophy. Commenting after the event, committee member and Jewish Care Trustee, Andrew Klein said;
“RAGS and the Redbridge Sports Committee continue to work together to raise much needed funds for Jewish Care. We were delighted to be able to raise a total of £135,000 to support services for the local Jewish community."
Daniel Carmel-Brown, Director Fundraising and Marketing, Jewish Care commented;
“We are very grateful to the committee, players and sponsors all of whose hard work and commitment made this another extremely successful event. Jewish Care provide a wealth of services in the area from social work and family carers services, a centre for people with dementia, a large residential care home and of course the Redbridge Jewish Community Centre. This range of services wouldn’t be possible without the ongoing support from the community.”
