Celebrate a Life

Giving in memory is a special and meaningful way to celebrate the life of a loved one. Your support will honour their memory and enable Jewish Care to continue to touch the lives of 10,000 people every week.

Many people choose to make a gift in memory of a loved one, here are some of the reasons why

Here is one families special story

My earlier memory of my cousin Martin was when he visited my parents’ home on his three wheel bicycle. We were about 9 years old and had been evacuated, him to Norfolk and me to Maidenhead. Both Martin and his younger brother Peter had physical disabilities and mental health needs. My Aunt Bella and my Uncle Harry, Martin and Peter’s mum and dad, spent every day caring for their two wonderful boys.

As the boys grew, their needs changed and caring for them became more difficult. Martin and Peter moved to The Tottenham Home where they were cared for until it closed. Fortunately, as Jewish Care expanded, the superb Lady Sarah Cohen House was due to open and it was here that Martin and Peter made their new home.

The two brothers shared interconnecting rooms, with their own modern bathrooms. And to top it all, they were much nearer to their parents! Martin revelled in the social life and outings and Peter, who was more reserved, helped deliver newspapers to other residents and folded the Tallasim in the beautiful Synagogue.

Martin passed away in 2004 and Peter passed away in 2018. I miss them both and they are never far from my thoughts.

My cousins were cared for by all the staff and volunteers at Jewish Care. It was not just a home – it was their home. This is why my family decided to donate to Jewish Care in their memory. I hope that future generations can benefit from their support”.
